World Description
The world is a big place. Ferocious ranges of mountains—the Galarin and Veladrin—enclose the mighty river Galdur that courses through fertile plains, dense forest, and free cities. This is not a land of empires, but rather of small polities: free cities, city-states, and small feudal kingdoms dot the rich plains, building castles upon the hills, and trading among the navigable waterways.
Cities bustle with commercial activity. Merchants from lands afar sell raw metals and rare spices in exchange for a fraction of the region's formidable agricultural output. In the richest kingdoms, floating castles manned by warrior-mages watch their subjects dutifully, an occult panopticon formed by the wizard-kings so desperate to hold on to their power.
Where You Start
We begin this campaign in the free city of Haldren, at the confluence of the Galdur and Maladur rivers. Haldren is among the most populous cities in the region; last census showed over 200,000 residents within its walls.
